Aisha Movie Review : Sonam Kapoor & Abhay Deol Magic Didn’t Work

The only movie released this Friday 6 august, 2010 is Aisha based on a novel by British author Jane Austen : Emma, starring Sonam Kapoor as a lead protagonist (Aisha), Abhay Deol (Arjun), Ira dubey (Pinky Bose) Cyrus Sahukar, Lisa Haydon, Amrita Puri, Arunoday Singh under the production house of Sonam Kapoor father Anil Kapoor and her sister Rhea Kapoor.

Sonam kapoor, the perfect fit for the role of Aisha, has played a daughter of rich father who stays in Delhi and whose life revolve around friends, partying, shopping and playing cupid and setting life of people. Abhay Deol plays her childhood friend and helps her through all problems and advice her when needed. But Aisha has her own rules of living. Aisha meets small-town girl, Amrita puri, and takes her as her latest project of giving her makeover, fixing her with various suitors, and creating situations for romance and force her into it.

So the movie revolves around finding suitor, love, infatuation, friendship and so on. All the actors have outperformed with great script and dialogues. Also the musical score by Amit Trivedi is superb with its song “gal mitti mitti bole” hitting the charts. The look of stars is very impressive and striking all through. The styling of all characters is up to the mark. The costume designers [Pernia Qureshi and Kunal Rawal] have done a awesome work of choosing/making the trendy and best outfits suited for each role, especially for the gang of girls.

The debutant director of movie, Rajshree Ojha, claims that this movie is a romantic comedy. The plot line is very simple with a very simple love story. Unlike most Hindi love stories that witness a lot of drama, Aisha is different.

Though the movie if 2 hr long: it seems to be a bit long in during certain scenes. Otherwise it’s a must watch for all Bollywood movie lovers. This movie has its greatest appeal on youth audience and is able to attract them.

I will give this movie 1.5 star out of 5.
