Baisakhi festival: enjoy with enthusiasm

Baisakhi serves to be one of the main festivals of Sikhs that is celebrated with huge amount of gaiety and enthusiasm in Punjab state and all across the world where there is Sikh population. For large farming society of Punjab, the Baisakhi festival basically marks a time for great harvest of the rabi crops and so they celebrate this day with gidda and bhangra dances.

Happy Baisakhi falls on first day of the Vaisakh month i.e. April-May as per the Sikh Calendar. For this, Baisakhi festival is also called as Vaisakhi. As per the English calendar, the Baisakhi date corresponds to 13th April each year and 14th April in every 36 years.

The people from Punjab celebrate this festival with true devotion and exuberance. In various villages, Baisakhi fairs are also organized in which recreational activities and wrestling bouts are conducted.
