Government Imposed Hike in Petrol, Diesel, Kerosene & LPG Price

A meeting will be held by the Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM) on fuel prices on Friday, 25th July, headed by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee. The measures of decontrolling fuel prices will be reviewed in this meeting, which was scheduled to start at 1 PM.

Since oil marketing companies have been making a loss of Rs 3.7/litre on Petrol, Rs 3.8/litre on Diesel, Rs 18.8/litre on Kerosene and Rs 261.9 on each cylinder of LPG, the Petroleum Ministry had made a proposal to increase Petrol price by Rs 3/litre and Diesel price by Rs 2/litre.

A small rise in the price of kerosene, used for lighting by the poor and in cooking gas has also been recommended by the oil ministry.
