India Celebrating 63rd Independence Day Today

It’s been 63 years, 15 august 1947, since we have been free from the clutches of Colonial rule. 15 August is a national holiday in India. On 15th the main event takes place at Red Fort, New Delhi where Flag hoisting event is held by Prime Minister Monmohan Singh and he delivers ‘Address to the Nation’ on the eve of Independence Day.

After that, the Independence Day parade is started by the personnel of the police and armed forces. Many events are also held at state level like flag hoisting ceremonies, cultural programmes, etc. Another symbol of Independence Day is the sport of kite flying. Every Indian should celebrate this day with sense of pride and pay homage to our freedom fighter be PROUD to be an Indian.
