Krishna Janmashtami 2010 SMS and Text Messages

With celebrations of Sri Krishna Janmashtami already high in air, all Krishna bhakts are all set to pay homage to their God. Various temples in the cities have started their preparations to celebrate this day with great joy and happiness. The excited devotees are observed arranging different Jhankis in their homes that symbolize the pious birth of the incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Janmashtami celebrations are actually full of fun, gaiety and colors thereby celebrating immense joy on the day to highlight the good morals and virtues propagated by Lord Vishnu.

As per Hindu mythology, Lord Krishna was born on this day of Janmashtami. This festival is celebrated with enthusiasm and fervor in towns of Vrindavan and Mathura which are considered to be the hometown of the God.

On this day, the Krishna devotees are seen celebrating Raas Lila in different temples where the performers enact different scenes and events from the life of Lord Krishna. Then, there is the poplar Dahi Hnadi tradition celebrated in various regions in which the young boys make pyramids on each other in order to break the pot filled with freshly made delicious butter. All these activities recreate the mischievous and flirtatious moods linked with Lord Krishna.

This year, Krishna Janmashtami will be celebrated on 1st September in some regions while the North Indian side will celebrate the festival on September 2, 2010.
