No One killed Jessica: – Movie Review

Rajkumar Gupta directed No one killed Jessica is based on true murder mystery of late model Jessica Lal, who was wittingly shot dead. The incident was the most burning issue of the time in many media sources. The movie, No one killed Jessica is just an attempt to portray picture of a helpless girl, Sabrina (Vidya Balan) and her struggle to bring the culprit into book. She gets help from the female journalist, Meera Gaity (Rani Mukherjee). The overall plot of the movie revolves around struggle of Sabrina and her hopeless endeavor to find the right justice against her sister’s murderer.

Director Rajkumar Gupta seems to have done lots of works on the movie subject. The character casts are also good. Vidya Balan portrays true picture of a helpless girl seeking rightful justice against the accused responsible for killing her sister. Rani Mukherjee, as a TV journalist tries harder to justify her role. In some scenes of the movie, there are foul words, which are surprisingly not censored by the film censor board of India.

Since, it was the media that brought Jessica murder case into limelight; this might be a reason behind approval of some objectionable scenes in the movie by the censor board.

The underlying message of the movie is not based on traditional adage, justice delayed is justice denied. The movie is all about struggles and will power of mourn family to bring the justice back which was denied initially. It is hard to say whether the movie will bring any public awareness to the almost-forgotten case of Jessica Lal murder case.
