Summary:

One By Two is a romantic comedy as its genre specifies. Interestingly and unfortunately, watching this flick you will neither find romance nor comedy.

This Friday releasing at the box office is Abhay Deol and Preeti Desai star casted One By Two. Directed and written by Devika Bhagat, this movie has Rati Agnihotri, Darshan Jariwala and Jayant Kripalani in other lead roles. Abhay Deol is known for his image in the parallel cinema and with this romantic comedy will he be able to keep up to it, let’s check out.

One By Two

Devika Bhagat is debuting as a director with this flick and has weaved a lot in it. Still the film comes out to be rather less aspiring than what was expected from it. A little romantic comedy in One By Two struggles to keep to the plot of the film.

The characters and the story running around the game of life, love and laughter doesn’t gets along very well. The movie is not romantic at the first place and the excitement less humor does not allows us to call it a comedy either. It’s something like an experiment gone wrong at the right apparatus. One By Two

You will be interested in some characters at some instance in the movie however overall there is severe lack of vitality in One By Two. Stating the mindset of two protagonists in the movie Devika herself got confused with the screen play.

In the story there is our male protagonist Amit Sharma (played by Abhay Deol) who is typical geeky software professional. There is another side of his character as a songwriter as well who is desperately struggling to break free from his mundane job. Our lady protagonist Samara Patel (played by Preeti Desai) is raised by her single mom who is very particular about life in reference to have seen it the closest.

As the name of the flick suggests, One By Two offers you two stories more apparently portray of lives of Amit and Samara in one frame running parallel to each other. They only intersect at the public washrooms at some points. There are also many other characters involved in the movie which makes it little hoppy.

One major flaw where the film losses is with the characterization, Inspite of such a strong star cast none of the other actors are provided their independent identity and they just end up playing family, friends and colleagues.

Story progresses as the guy in the lead breaks up and then his friends start patching him up with every other girl. Also his mother is on the hunt for her perfect bahu.  Samara is the twist in his life which more over disheartens us.

In the acting Abhay Deol is looped in the character and will give you sense of a stuck recorder. Preeti Desai also makes this film hard to bear. All the other characters of the movie quite look more appealing than the two in the lead.  Music of Shankar- Ehsaan- Loy is average.

Verdict

Go watch it if you do not have something more interesting in your like the male protagonist in the movie. However giving it a miss will not cost you anything.

One By Two is a romantic comedy as its genre specifies. Interestingly and unfortunately, watching this flick you will neither find romance nor comedy.
