Parsis Celebrate Parsi New Year Navroz Today

Navroz or Nowruz, the Parsi New Year is celebrated with much gaiety and joy every year. This year, the day is celebrated today i.e. on 19th August 2010. in India, this day is also popularly called as Pateti. The Zoroastrians or Iranis or Parsis celebrate the Navroz by visiting their worshipping place known as the Agyari or Fire Temple. This name further suggests that the Parsis worship fire.

Manmohan Singh, the Prime Minister of India greeted the entire Parsi community today and wished that Navroz would offer prosperity and happiness in the lives of all Parsis and the whole nation.

In fact, Navroz is taken to be one of the holiest festivals celebrated by the Zoroastrians. Even the Parsi delicacies have some special importance on this special day. The dish called as Ravo is made using sugar, suji, vermicelli and milk. The lunch generally includes fish, Pulav and other non vegetarian food items.
