Places to see in Badrinath

Badrinath is the Hindu holy town and nagar panchayat in the Chamoli District of Uttarakhand in India. Although considered to be a pious and religious place, there are various places to see in Badrinath. Tourists and devotees can plan a trip to Badrinath and take pleasure in the serene holy town, visiting temples and other places of religious importance.

The temple or dham was established in 9th C by Adi Shankaracharya. The deity who is worshipped at the temple is Lord Vishnu and the temple is located on bank of Alaknanda River. The Singh Dwara at the temple’s entrance is a true artistic creation and masterpiece. A large number of Vishnu devotees from all parts of India and abroad visit the temple from May to October. The temple is closed in winter months because the region faces heavy snowfall during this time.


Lord Vishnu’s footprints can be seen at this place on a boulder. This is in fact a beautiful meadow and a must visit spot in Badrinath.


The sheshnetra is the boulder that has the impressions of the eye of legendary serpent Sheshnag.


It is the pyramid shaped snow peak that towers above Badrinath. It is also popularly called as Garhwal Queen.

There are various other places to see and visit in Badrinath as well. Some of them include the Bheem Pul, Ganesha Cave, Mata Murti Temple, Mana Village, Vyas Cave and Brahma Kapal to name a few.
