Sri Krishna Janmashtami Greetings & Wallpapers : Happy Janmashtami on 2nd Sep 2010

The festival of Janmashtami celebrates Lord Krishna’s birth, who is the incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The festival is celebrated on the Ashtami or the eight day of the month of Savana or Sravana. Lord Krishna was born on Rohini nakshatram and came into this world on a stormy, windy and dark night in order to end the cruelty and rule of Kansa, his maternal uncle.

Special pujas are done in temples all across the world. Special rituals are even held at midnight at the time of Lord’s birth. Processions having tabloids that depict various events and episodes from the life of the God are enacted by kids in order to make the festival more appealing and joyous.

People send Janmashtami SMS and messages to their loved ones. Also, shops are seen sprawling with Janmashtami greetings and gifts. Jhulas, dresses and other things associated with the festival are bought by people to decorate their homes.
