Sri Lanka defeated India by 74 Runs in Tri Series Final 2010

The Indian team again faced a defeat in the finals against Sri Lanka in the Micromax tri series tournament yesterday i.e. on 28th of August 2010. The Sri Lankans defeated India by 74 runs in order to avenge their Asia Cup defeat.

It was surely a great performance by the Sri Lankan camp but the Indian side disappointed its fans yet again. Team Sri Lanka won toss and selected to bat first. In fact, the Indian bowlers bowled very badly thereby allowing the Sri Lankans to make a huge score.

Jayawardene and Dilshan added the glorious 121 runs for first wicket. The former Lankan made 39 runs and Dilshan had the superb century. It was Dilshan’s fisrt ODI century on the Lankan land. Sri Lanka packed up with the 299/8 score in the 50 over match.

Dilshan proved to be the highest scorer having 110 runs while Sangakkara made just 71. Silva remained not out with a 26 score. As for the Indian team, Ishant Sharma and Munaf Patel took 2 wickets each. Karthik became victim of the bad umpiring and was out for a duck. Even Sehwag was going fine and survived the LBW appeal but then was declared run out by the umpire off the same ball.

Sehwag made just 28 and Virat Kohli seemed strong with 37. Even Yuvraj could not last for long on the pitch despite getting various chances. He scored only a 26 and MS Dhoni along with Suresh Raina tried hard to revive their innings but to no avail. Raina was left scoring a 29 runs mark.

Dilshan was announced as the Man of the Match and Virendra Sehwag was made the Man of the Series. In other words, Sehwag scored 268 runs in the entire tri series with Sri Lanka and New Zealand. He was given the Fiat Linea.
