That Girl in Yellow Boots review & Ratings : Good For Particular Audience

Under the brand of Anurag Kashyap, That Girl in Yellow Boots, which indeed sounds “colorful”, is seen as a meaningful movie. While most of the filmmakers are simply serving emotional tearjerkers or baseless comedy to their audience, Anurag Kashyap has always maintained his forte to be that of meaningful cinema.

Starring Kalki Koechlin, Naseeruddin Shah and Shiv Subramaniyam, ‘That girl in yellow boots’ is about a girl named Ruth (Kalki) who illegally immigrates to Mumbai in search of her missing father. Ruth’s father had discarded the family long back. Ruth was a kid then. Often being called the city that fulfills the dreams of people, Mumbai has been shown as a frightening and creeping city in this movie. In her sojourn to locate her father, Ruth unfolds the secrets of the Mumbai city, its reality of being infected by distorted difference in the human life.

Throughout the movie, Ruth finds herself struggling and being prey to men’s needs, first, by the old men at massage parlor where she takes up the job and second, at the hands of her drug addict boy friend and local ‘gundas’.

In the movie, ‘That girl in yellow boots’, Ruth is depicted as a girl who comes face-toface with the dangers of life in unknown city as she struggles for her wisdom in the city that haunts her.

The protagonist of the movie, is of course, Kalki (Ruth), as the name of movie says it all. Kalki has actually lived up to her role in the movie and so have the other actors. This adds a real touch of reality to the movie.
