Update about TELANGANA Issue- A STATE OR NOT

If there is anything which would be bothering the masses of Andhra Pradesh right now then it most probably is the issue of the state Telengana. Till now Telengana is just a concept, an idea. What’s important for us is the fact that when this idea is going to be implemented or will it just remain an idea. We see protests every day, lathi charge, bandhs etc. So what is Telengana actually?

Telengana is a region of Andhra Pradesh and the name means “The Land of the Telugus”. So we can guess that the region obviously consists of Telugu speaking people of the state. Located on the Deccan Plateau to the west of the Eastern Ghats Telengana consists of northwestern interior districts of Warangal, Adilabad, Khammam, Mahabubnagar, Nalgonda, Rangareddy, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Medak, and the state capital, Hyderabad.

On Dec 9th the Govt. had announced that the process of formation of this new state, carved out from Andhra Pradesh, will begin after introduction and passage of a separation statement by the state assembly of AP. However on 23rd the Govt. declared that they will not take any hasty step and will decide what has to be done only after a consensus.

K Chandrasekhar Rao, the mastermind behind this new state had fasted for 11 days and the center worried about his health gave a hasty agreed. However within hours anti-Telengana protests began. The center had decided for a state reorganization committee but KCR rejected the idea considering it as an insult.

He has requested the Govt. not to torture the students and innocent people who support the formation the state. He has also said that soon all the supporters of TELENGANA will be launching a non-cooperation movement too. It’s only a matter of time till we see the end result of this TELENGANA storm.
