Volkswagen Launched New Honda City Rival Volkswagen Vento

Yet another superior German craftsmanship from the Volkswagen stable: The all new Volkswagen Vento launched in India

The launch of the Volkswagen Vento in New Delhi on the 6th of july was a much anticipated event. This latest offering from the Volkswagen stable is believed to be the counterpart to India’s New Verna 2010 Transform, and the latest Honda City.

Neeraj Garg, a member of the board of directors for the Volkswagen passenger cars at Volkswagen Group Sales India Pvt Ltd was quoted as saying that, ”The Volkswagen Vento is a completely new product offering from Volkswagen in India. It will be another important brand pillar for us to stimulate the brand’s growth in the country.” He too added that as per the German engineering standards, Vento has been designed keeping in mind the needs and expectations of its customers for which the car had set its own benchmarks.

Vento will be available in both Petrol and Diesel variants. It would be assembled at the Volkswagen plant located in Chakan, Pune alongside other cars such as the Skoda Fabia and Polo hatchbacks.

The petrol variant comes with a 1.6 litre MPFI  Petrol engine, with a max power of 105 BHP @ 5250 RPM, max toque of 153 Nm @ 3800RPM, and 5 speed manual, or 6 speed automatic transmissions. The Diesel counterpart comes with a 1.6 litre CRDI Diesel engine, with a max power of 105 BHP @ 4400 RPM, max torque of 253 Nm @ 1500-2500 RPM, and 5 speed manual transmissions.

The starting price of the car is set to be priced between Rs 7 – Rs 10 lakhs INR (for the full featured version).

Vento has loads of useful and interesting features such as

  • A CD/MP3 player with 4 speakers.
  • Multi function information display which includes the door opening warning.
  • Front airbags for both the driver and the person sitting beside him in the front.
  • Anti-theft system with interior surveillance and back up alarm.
  • Climatronic automatic air conditioning (with rear AC vents).
  • Height adjustable driving seats and steering wheel.

The interiors of the car is well equipped with a storage compartment in the front doors for one litre bottles, roof handles which can be folded with coat hooks, sunglass storage inside a glove box, and cup holders.

With so many interesting and useful features, combined with such reasonable pricing the Volkswagen Vento is sure to create quite a storm in the auto markets. The car is to be made available through its 47 dealership stores across the country.
