Maruti Suzuki’s revolutionary version of its famous car for the common man hit the roads on Wednesday, August 4, 2010. No, it did not make come up with Pico to replace the atomic Nano. Maruti Suzuki launched the Alto K10, the new version of the popular Alto. What makes it remarkably different from the older version is the 998cc petrol engine that grants it better speed and mileage.

It is only slightly longer than the present model, 125mm longer to be precise. The increase in length is on account of the improvised K10 petrol engine which lends it higher fuel efficiency.  The suspension has improved as well and superior break systems have been installed in order to provide greater manoeuvring power and control to the driver. There is increased leg space, knee room o be precise, for the rear seat passengers.

In terms of style, the new Alto K10 has a much bolder appeal than the older one. The tail lights have been restyled to give it a more modern look, somewhat an ambitious one. On a scale of one to ten, the design and style can be safely put at a decent number 7.

The car affords a mileage of 20kmph and reaches a peak power of 68ps@6200rpm and high torque of 90Nm@3500 rpm. The car has been moderately priced between 3.03 lakh to 3.20 lakh. After all Maruti Suzuki India MD & CEO Shinzo Nakanishi wanted it to be common Indian man’s pursuit for a better car at comparatively lower prices.
